Let's see...

I decided to laze about and lose myself in blogs and websites during my brief off time this weekend. It was glorious.

I found this photo and almost gasped. I've had several dreams with a beach that looks almost identical to this.
Does that ever happen to you? You dream about a place, a place that you've never been too. And that place turns up in different dreams with completely different circumstances. Happens to me all the time.

I drooled over this camera. My old point and shoot has finally decided that it is tired of taking pictures and turns off for no reason. Secretly I'm really excited to shop for a new one. I wantssss it so badly! First heard about it from my fave photographers.
Gift shopping for friends on Etsy turned into finding a ton of really cute, fun things for me...like these.

by TimelessVixenVintage. All I could think of was Betty Draper when I saw this beauty.

I discovered the Braid Wednesday group on Flickr. LOVE....

Then I was going through Seth Cohen withdrawl, so to Hulu I went.
I feel much better now...

And finally....

I saw Away We Go recently. It's great. I really liked it. And isn't the movie poster so adorable?!!

And the soundtrack was fantastic too.

Louie came for a visit....

and he got a bath...

I designated myself the photographer..

Gotta say, watching a dog get a bath...

is pretty darn funny.

I miss you too....

I hope we can catch up soon.
I have lots to tell.
Lots of posts in my head.
Just no time to actually do them.

I did get to tell two little girls about
how God created the world.
They asked when He was born
and who His mother was.
The fact that He didn't have
a mom
shocked them.
And the fact that He was
before anything.
Good conversations
on the crabbing pier.

Be back soon....

Oh, my. We had the most beautiful weather today. I mean perfect. Big puffy clouds dotting the perfectly blue sky. Hot sun, but not too hot. A light breeze. I could order a day like this for every single day this summer.

I also had...

buckets full of trash that the tide brought on our beach this morning. Cigarette butts, bottle caps, baby powder containers, a fake nose from a mask, tampons, pieces of plastic. Gross. Please don't throw your trash into the earth's water ways! It ends up on our beach.

another snake killing. This one was a baby, thank goodness. It was hiding under our banana boat and scared me to death! I made my extra brave partner in crime scoop it up with a net and then begged one of the guys on staff to kill it.

engine grease all over my gloved hands whilst I greased up the steering column (is that what it's called?) on one of the boats.

sand, sand, everywhere.

dead fish. There were about 4 large dead fish rotting on the beach this morning welcoming me to work.

TONS of sea weed covering most of the beach. Big leafy green pieces all over the kids and the banana boat and tubes and me.

I think I've begun to realize that my job is NEVER the same every day. Never. Oh, sure, we do the same things. We have the same activities that take place, but it's never really "the same." And I kinda like that. I'm so very thankful to be out of the office for a while and just enjoy being outside every day. It's like a breath of fresh air at a place that I've been for a long, long time. Love it when God surprises me.

My life is CAMP

(photo found here)

Sorry I've been pretty much absent for the last few days. Internet time is pretty much non-existent. I did take a few photos this week and will try to share them this weekend on my 28 hours off.

I hope you all have a wonderful, beautiful weekend! We finally have sunshine. Yipppeeee!!!!

Must haves for summer listening

Came out yesterday. Order placed today.
Thank goodness for Amazon cause it's no where to be found in stores.

This one is a 2 CD set! Be still my heart.
And those images, which were used as ads all over the internet and print media....love, love, love. The colors, the crops. So inspiring.

Sighhhhhh...I miss BSG....
Time to do a marathon.

Here's a little reminder of my ridiculous love of Bear McCreary work. I have an obsession with instrumental soundtracks. His Battlestar soundtracks are my current (2 years running) favorite.

I think it's impossible to get tired of this show

It's always funny, even after multiple viewings. If you've never seen it, you can find ALL of the episodes on Hulu.

btw...day two is going well. Besides the fact that our floating pier that we use 100 times a day broke loose and almost ended up crashing into the neighbors pier, I'd say it's been a success. Off to do eat, and then back to the waterfront!

I feel like Rainbow Bright...

....and I'm loving it. My hair is clipped back a little bit so you can see the colors better. It's actually more hidden so the colors peak out of my layers, which I LOVE. Can't wait to see it woven into my braids!

Off to bed. I have a 6am management meeting tomorrow. I should finish tomorrow night about 8pm. Yippee for 14 hour days! Camp is in full swing!

hair colors by: Manic Panic.
T-shirt: Shepherd Boy Creative. I've used them for years for our staff shirts and LOVE them!
music: I've listened to this song about 10 times today.

What I've been up to...

1. A surprise visit from my sis and the kiddos after just getting to see them for only 2 hours the night before. They were here all week, but I've been buried alive in training and not able to see them. This little surprise was exactly what I needed.

Little E is very shy. Doesn't really express her feelings.

I have no idea what she is feeling right now,do you?

And this one...oh, this one...

I know that people are biased with how cute their nephews/nieces are, but is he not the cutest thing? Isn't he?!

2. We've had lots of thunder storms and rain, rain, rain.

Even the groundhogs are intrigued by them.

The clouds roll in...

And then the rain and wind...

3. When I was doing my laundry today, I was singing "Laundry day...see you there...under things tumbling...wanna say...love your hair...here I go...mumbling...with my Freeze Ray... I will stop the world..."

This really is just perfectly genius.

4. Loved this episode of This American Life. Been listening to it in the am whilst getting ready for the day.

5. Dyeing my streaks blue and purple. They look so cool. Pictures to come soon. I ran out of daylight.

6. Drooling over Roxy clothes that I can't afford.

I wish their board shorts weren't so freakin' expensive. They are exactly what I've been searching high and low for. And I do love this shirt too.

7. How cute is this?!!

8. This dress. OH.MY.
The Image is Found is beyond crazy good. I'm addicted to their photos. See more here. Oh and these have been stuck in my head. Even with a timer...they create magic.

9. WE START WEEK ONE TOMORROW!!!!

Flashback done right

I'm sure you've all seen this by now, but it's just too funny not to share.

June 09, 2009

(one of our campers a few years ago)

Lord Christ,

You have no body on earth but ours,
No hands but ours,
No feet but ours.

Ours are the eyes through which your compassion must look out on the world.

Ours are the feet by which you may still go about doing good.

Ours are the hands with which You bless people now.

Bless our minds and bodies,
That we may be a blessing to others.

St. Theresa of Avila

2 quick things

1. Will Ferrell on Man vs Wild was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I was laughing so hard that I couldn't breathe.

2. I got published in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. Pretty frakin' sweet!

GOING IN THE MAIL THIS WEEK:

I called The Bro today and..
HE WAS HERE:

It's been few days and busy ones at that. I've been training new boat drivers, which means lots of time on the water at 6am. Scrubbing mildew off of dirty boat seats. Setting up the craft room. Training my life-saver/God-send. Meeting lots of new people. And watching God work. One more week of training to go, and then we are in the thick of it!

Off to enjoy my partial day off with my sewing machine and some more Anne.
