The return of Friday Finds

I found so many fun things this week. Thought I'd bring back the old Friday Finds and share them with you, dear readers.

This song. On repeat. Over and over and over. It was on Smallville last week during the best Oliver and Chloe moment ever. Oh, how I will miss this show and those two characters every week.

These photos on The Big Picture of the Nyiragongo Crater. Dear goodness. Volcanoes are utterly fascinating and beautiful to me. I got to visit Volcanoes National Park when I was in Hawaii a few years ago. Jeepers, it was so neat-o.

Elsie's Fight Club chocolate bars. So perfect for a party, no?!

Katie's new post. Talk about convicting. I don't feel like I am even close to being able to understand what this truly means/looks like in my life. I can truly say that Katie's blog continues to challenge and change me just like it did when I found it 3 years ago. Jesus speaks through her words to my heart.

Amazing news on one of my favorite blogs this week. Literal tears of joy and excitement. This family constantly inspires me to love Jesus and the orphan more.

I wanted to dust off the old, film, Pentax I have from the 80's when I saw this from Hula this week. Swoon. And how adorable is that camera?


I'm tempted to take this workshop even though I don't scrapbook. Ali is so inspiring. Her designs with all their details are works of art. Her blog has been one of my favorites for about 5 years now.

Etsy was a treasure trove this week. Wow.
Super find: this shop full of beautiful clocks and watches, two of my favorite things to drool over.

This shop. I fell in love with this, this, this and this. And this I would wear every day. It just feels like the style of this shop is perfect for camp life. Love, love, love. And can't afford any of it....

Nan Lawson's shop. This one is a must. Already planning a spot for it. This one is another fave, but half of the shop is one big fave.

This adorable print from Handz. I think either my nephew needs this.

A tall ship letterpress card? Yes, please!

And a pretty piece for my walls.
Finally, a book to read. Shiver. I finally found another young adult novel that captured my attention. It's kinda disappointing though that werewolves, vampires and fantasy are the only topics that seem to be popular right now. The books stores are full of them, and it's hard to find other genres. Don't people have any original ideas now-a-days? Maybe because I was totally into the whole Buffy-verse all those years ago, but I'm completely over the whole vampire craze. Time for a new theme.

Lost was actually good this week. First time all season. Thank goodness for Hulu cause my DVR cut off the last 3 minutes, which were kinda important.

I found a few things that were interesting this week, so I thought I'd share.

This post. Those photos. Oh, those photos. I have no words.
Side story....when I was at Sundance, I was walking around Main St. That's where all the stars usually were and where my brother was stationed for the festival. As I was walking, Justin Lyon walked right by me. I gasped and grabbed my brother's arm and said, "Oh, my gosh! That's one of the photographers that I just LOVE from Mammoth Men. That's him! He just walked right by me!" Such a cool moment!

I just got this facial lotion this week and am already in love. Everything I ever get from this shop is exactly what it claims to be. And it always smells divine. All my face soaps come from here. Now my lotion too!

This post made my heart hurt for the little orphans in Haiti. Praying for their safe trip home to their mommies and daddies.

And speaking of orphans coming home, check out this adorable little one that will soon be making that long flight home with her mommy and big brother. Is she not one of the most beautiful little girls you've ever seen!

Friday Finds

There were so many great things this week that I just had to share....

1,000 Houses. It's easy to get lost here for a good hour...or two. I'm kinda obsessed with abandoned houses. For instance, there was a whole entire military base that was shut down a while ago in one of my favorite beach towns in the South. It was heart breaking to drive by those huge chain-linked fences that surrounded dozens of houses boarded up and left to crumble. I've learned that a few years ago it was bought and refurbished and now used for housing again. There is just something magical about old abandoned houses. ps...I like how Mary explains it here.

I found this a while ago and just can't stop window shopping for it. So fun and different. Love.

Elsie had such fun posts this week. She is always inspiring me.

The Tim Walker/Tim Burton collaboration in Harper's Bazaar. Pure magic and weirdness.

The movie lists are up. And the plane tickets are bought. Oh, I think I may faint from excitement!!!

Tara's post on San Fransisco. What places feel like home to you? Some of mine are Seattle, Prince Edward Island, Hawaii and Vancouver. They just fit.

It was so hard not to buy something for me today in Kelly's shop update. Those cable bangles...oh, they were calling my name. SO beautiful!

Current addiction: Grey's Anatomy on Netflix Instant and Lifetime. Plus, The OC on my lunchbreak on Soap Net. Why, oh why am I addicted to bad TV? It's like a drug.

Friday Night Lights. I just don't understand how this amazing show isn't the most award-winning and most watched show on television. This season has been so beautifully, heartbreakingly wonderful. If you've never watched, it should be on your Christmas wish list. This week, it was so moving and almost too close to my own life.

My favorite find this week was this. I can't tell you enough how much I adore this idea. And that video...incredible.

I found quite a few fun, fantastic things this week, so I decided to share....


Modern Family gets better every week. This week it was hysterical. Saw it on Hulu.

There were some amazing crafty ideas on Smile and Wave this week (and last). I've already made one of these and have worn it about 10 times.

Scrubs is back in just a few short weeks! This promo made me laugh out loud. As perfectly, perfect the "series" finale was last season and as much as I don't want to ruin the magic that it was, there's no way I'm missing this! ps....Photos like this one (posted on his Facebook page) don't do anything to help my TV crush. So adorable.

Was reminded how much I love this blog this week. Had to put in my reader. This post was adorable!

Katie's (Amazima) post this week about loving others is going to be one of those thoughts I remember forever. So profound. So humbling.

I really want to go see this movie this weekend. (No, it's not New Moon.)

There's a pretty good chance I'll be taking a spur of the moment trip to NYC next month to go see the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA.

I'm almost caught up on Lost (thanks once again, Hulu) season 5. Watching it all at once is SO much better. The final few episodes were posted this week. Knitting/crafting TV for sure.

I'm loving these stockings, this cowl and these mittens. Darn knitting habit is taking over my life. I'm not even showing you the ones that I want to make as gifts.

And finally, meet Janie. God placed her on my heart when I read about her about a week ago through another blog. Yesterday, God put one more big reminder in my path, and I realized that it was time to stop fooling around and do something for this little one that was constantly on the forefront of my mind. I'm so excited to be able to help her even in this very small way. ps...she still needs one more sponsor!

Been a while, huh? Not that I haven't found some fun things lately. I just haven't had time to post.

Here's few for this week.

This post from PW had me missing my cocker spaniel I had growing up. I used to smother her in kisses and squish her face just like that.

I want this Camper Kit from Elsie so badly. I LOVE old campers like that. And I can't imagine how cute those embroidery patterns included in the set must be. Love these camera stickers too.

Well spoken, Gwen. God has been saying this to my heart lately, too. So many things I think I deserve. My selfishness is so poisonous.

Kelly's Tumblr. It could be on this list every day, every week. So beautifully inspiring. She has such an eye for the beautifulness in the world.

The highlight of my internet time this week was THIS video. It's Tara, yet again. I'm constantly inspired by her. How fun that she collaborates with a video artist to create a whole new world of memories for her clients. I've watched this video bunches cause it's just so happy.

The highlight of my TV week (this week=amazing TV) was ER. TV Gal pretty much said it all. Perfect. I felt like I was back in high school watching ER on my living room floor with the house all dark and quite. It was just perfect. I think I'll watch it again tonight just because.

Flickr was unbelievably inspiring this week (and lately in general). One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

Mary Beth's post made me pray more fervently for their family (her especially) this week.

Katie's Amazima blog. It. Always. Makes. Me. Think. I'm ready to jump on a plane to Uganda and play with all those little ones.

The song Signs by Bloc Party. It was used on both Gossip Girl and Chuck this season. Josh Schwartz likes it, maybe?

One of my favorite bloggers got to meet one of my other favorite bloggers. Look at all the yummies they got to make! Check out these shirts that she has created too. I like this one.

24. Jack Bauer. Season 7. It's so good I can't stand it!

One of the best episodes ever of Friday Night Lights. If only I could come to each of your houses and watch season 1 with you. I know you would all love it. And this rumor has me ecstatic, btw.

I'm loving design is mine. Just found it this week.

Polyvore is a horribly, addicting, delightful black hole. I love window shopping and not spending any money. I also realized my style has drastically changed over the last few years. Or maybe I am just finally finding it.

Need a movie to watch this weekend? How about a 90's classic? My roomie and I were enjoying its magic on our lunch break this week. It's when I fell in love with Johnny Depp.

Just a few...

You all need to listen to The Super episode of This American Life. Act One is one of the best stories I've heard in a long, long time. ps...I'm official addicted to TAL.

I found a blog this week that went straight into my "fave" section. I'm sure after reading my post yesterday you will be able to understand why.

Thought this was cute. I remember when I first started listening to SCC, Caleb was still in elementary school. Now look at him.

Got sucked into The Commons again this week. Old pictures fascinate me. Quite a few made it into my fave's folder.

Speaking of Flickr faves....check out this one. Oh, the colors and light!

Saw Revolutionary Road this week. It's not a happy story, but I still really liked it. AMAZING performances all around. The colors/sets/costumes were strikingly beautiful.

Red Velvet Art opened this weekend. Good thing I don't live near the actual store. I love these vinyl stickers.

It's back! And jam packed full of great stuff this week. Here we go....


It was crazy cat week on The Bro's blog. It's been the highlight of my week. I can't even tell you how many times I was doubled over laughing until I couldn't breathe.

I want to see 500 Days of Summer now, not in July. I watched the trailer and then immediately hit replay.

One more week till Coraline. Eeek!

Some of you will know why this post about MBHH from Emily Richards (Chapman) had me so excited.

Katie is back in Uganda. Her recent posts...well, you just need to read them. Come see Amazima's new website.

Hula Seventy lists are too good to be true. I need to do one this year.

Ali's nursery is one of the cutest I have ever seen. Love the crib in the center of the room.

Rachel's art journal pages are beautiful works of art. I want to be able to create like this.

Flickr was a treasure trove of beauties this week. One, two (this whole photostream is so deliciously vintage.), three (the fab Elsie), four, and five (LOVE this room, especially the corner shelves) oh, and six.

Listening to This American Life today and probably for a good part of the weekend too. Hula Seventy's suggestion. And I have a deep love for radio dramas.

FNL season 3 is even better the second time. The characters idiosyncrasies are addicting. They are all so perfectly realized and acted. The Emmy's are a joke without this cast included, in my humble opinion.

And don't even get me started on Battlestar. It's beyond-words-good right now.

Oh, how I wish I had some pure wool lying around to dye these bright colors.

Red Velvet opens on Sunday. Oh, happy day! And oh, unhappy empty wallet.



Enough? Ok, I'm off to get lost in this book for a while.

It's so beautiful. Written by her son. And the photos? Oh, the photos. I'm a BIG Audrey fan. (bonus: it was at the library! FREE!) The colors on the cover make me want to decorate a room or do something else creative in this color palatte.

I just loved this post from sfgirlbybay. I too am in love with Old Hollywood. Audrey especially.

I've been wanting to do a photo shoot with fake mustaches lately. Then I saw this on Tara's blog. How absolutely adorable! I love family shots that are fun and not "sit and pose here."

Super excited about the new Wolverine movie. Complete with Hugh Jackman (you've seen Australia, right?!), Dominic Monaghan (my favorite hobbit and Oceanic 815 survivor), Taylor Kitsch (freakin Tim Riggins) and Ryan Reynolds (my favorite from 2 Guys and a Girl). Now that's my kind of cast.

Listened to The Dark Knight soundtrack last night. It's really fierce and spooky and delicious. Number 2 was my favorite.

Pop Candy's top 100 people of the year finished up this week. I liked quite a few of her top 20. Hello, Chuck Bass! And sweet Wall*E.

My favorite CD of the year Salvation Club is now available on itunes. Jeremy Larson's music is...wow. It will surprise you. This CD is one of my all time favorites, I think. Wintersong is the bestest.

Friday finds - the short edition

This week I spent little time online because I was kissing little cheeks and playing cars and hyperventilating in fabric tunnels. The most time I spent on the internet was typing a post on my 10 favorite TV characters this year. The only other things I looked at were these:

My Yahoo - I'm a Yahoo girl. My Yahoo page is jam packed with my favorite sites and blogs. My go-go spot when I turn on the computer. I loooove it.

Hulu - I've stated before my love for Hulu and it's magical free TV. This week it came in very handy for all the shows I missed. Prison Break, Chuck, The Office and 30 Rock would have been missed with out it.

The CW - Two words....Chuck Bass (#1 on my list). Thank goodness the CW FINALLY decided to upload Monday's episode today. It was GOoooo-ooood. The kind that required repeat (10x's, no joke) viewings of several key scenes.

And finally, I didn't find this online, but I've been humming it all week because it's Luke's favorite part of his favorite show. He has to make sure that all of us spin in circles and do jazz hands with him. My mom, sister and I are already ready for another trip to Disney since he doesn't really remember us being there this time last year. I'm always game for more Disney World!


There will be more pictures to come of the munchkins. But for now, I'm going to sleep to try and get rid of this annoying headache that has plagued me since my mom and I drove over the "mountain" range between my sisters home and ours. I guess 10 hours in the car didn't help it any.

Little towns with big price tags. I would live in Haleiwa in a heartbeat. I fell in love with it when I visited it a couple years ago. It's one of those places that soaked into my soul the minute I saw it.

I don't even have words to describe how much I love these images. That dress is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. And the shoes and hair piece...I can't get enough! Vintage is the way to go. Photos by the amazing Chenin Boutwell.

Lots of fun ideas for things to do in the Nation's capital. I've been there a bunch of times and there really are some amazing little spots! One of my favorites is the FDR Memorial on the Tidal Basin.

I wish I could take my nephew here. How fun!

I want this tree so very much. I saw this white tree in Target yesterday and even though I can't buy it, I WANTED to take it home with me and fill it with colored ornaments.

I got lost in this girl's photostream for hours. Her images are stunning and just beautiful art. She also has an Etsy shop. I want this one for my newly painted room.

Etsy finds: I heart tall ships (on a necklace instead). Cute little pouch. Wearable mechanical. Don't know why, but I love these! Etsy is full of great gift ideas!

And finally....an old(er) movie to re-watch this weekend. Again, I heart tall ships. Even though I've seen it a ton of times, it's still one of my favorites.



Pretty sure there were about 200 other things I found. There were lots of great finds this week! I leave tomorrow for the frozen tundra to meet my new neice (eeeek!). I plan on posting unless my sister hogs the computer the whole time. We both love the intra-net.

Mammoth Men trip number 3 begins in just a few days. The craziness it will contain can only be imagined.

One great Friday Find

I've mentioned before how I love Jeremy Larson. His previous CD is one of my favorites. His new CD Salvation Club is out now (although there is a little hold up at the moment to actually get your hands on it). I pre-ordered mine, which means I was lucky enough to get a download of it (through him).

I had my first listen today, and OH MY, it is absolutely fantastic. Just beautiful to sit and enjoy. I HIGHLY recommend it when it becomes available again. I think it's also cool that he is an independent artist with no label, who is going at it alone.

As I was driving around our BRAND NEW Target's parking garage, I almost re-ended someone when I saw a little girl in a Matilda Jane outfit. They really are just as beautiful in person. I'm crossing my fingers that my sister will have a girl so I will have an excuse to buy some.

After 1 entire month of having the same Netflix DVD, I finally returned my Young Riders Season One Disc 3. It really is embarrassing how long I keep my movies. I've been having a hankering for some of their crazy antics, so this is up next. Excuse my lack in proper television choices, but I can't help myself.

I want to make one of these. This one is pretty too. I always get in a knitting mood once it turns cooler. During the summer, no thanks!

I want to figure out how to do my hair like this. I used to do all kinds of fun things with my hair. Now it's BORING.

Now, you all know I love Battlestar Galactica, but I don't know that I love it this much. How crazy is this! Oh, and let the countdown begin to new (and last) episodes!!!

I saw the book The Hunger Games recommended on Stephanie Meyer's (author of Twilight books) website and it looks like a fun read. Always looking for one of those.

These photos, 1 & 2, from a Flickr contact made me miss Hawaii. They aren't miniatures. The shots were taken with a tilt shift lens, which gives them that cool effect.

I love this jewelry I found by way of decor8. A Fine Romance, The lady is a tramp and time for Adventure are my favorites. The artist's name is Kristen Townsend. Also, the "magazine" she is featured in is really cute too.

Found a new destination to visit. This Cottage Girl needs to live here, don't you think? It looks so magical....

Who What Wear. I found this about 2 years ago and then forgot about it. I love seeing how people wear clothes even though I usually can't afford them or see the need to have an enormous closet full of them. Plus, it doesn't have all the stupid Hollywood gossip that I can't stand.
