season changes

Today it reached almost 90 degrees and my heart almost leapt out of my chest in sheer joy. It.was.heavenly. Sleeping with the windows open is one of the best things in life, isn't it?! (unless you suffer from allergies then...maybe not so much.)

Anyway, in celebration of the change of season I changed out my little heart decorations for something a little more spring-like. This time I chose origami paper cranes. (and thought of Prison Break season 1 the whole time. Anyone else?)

I just looked up directions on line, like this one, and gathered a bunch of paper types that I had lying around.

Old Entertainment Weekly, old Reader's Digest books (best find of the decade. i use these those things ALL the time!) and an old Buffy comic I got at a thrift store. You can use any type of paper. No need to spend all that money on fancy origami paper.

I decided to add one of my heart strands because it added a perfect little pop of color. Then I simple threaded them up on a needle and normal sewing thread and used a push-pin to attach them to the ceiling.

Super easy. And they look so cute spinning slowly when the breeze catches them from my open windows. These may have to stay up for a while.

Could I place an order in for one or more of your origami cranes? So I can hang them in my room for the summer? :0) Pretty please?

I'm dreading the start of camp this year because I know you and Tara will stop blogging for 3 months. I love reading your blog. I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

K - how about you come over and we can make them and watch a movie?!

Val - Thanks so much! I'm hoping to keep posting, but it just may not be everyday. My free time is significantly dwindled...but the hardest thing is that I will have so MANY stories to share!

Old travel and cruise brochures are AMAZING for paper crafting. Let me know if you need some. I know where you can get some... cheap...
